I am being honored with a SOLO MUSUEM EXHIBITION from October 5, 2021 to January 2, 2022, at the magnificent Customs House Museum in Clarksville, Tennessee. This is a major milestone in my work as a fine artist. "Interactions - Paintings by Judy Lavoie" displays over a dozen original artworks including the premiere of several new paintings. I’ve included watercolors, acrylics and scratchboards, a variety of subjects and sizes, and all paintings are for sale.
I chose the title "Interactions" to remind viewers of the importance of real world interactions as these days of distancing and quarantining have limited so much to digital interactions. My display invites the viewers to see and learn how art is enormously interactive, including an artist's inspiration to paint a particular subject; the interactions of colors, pigments, tools, and painting surfaces; the artist's body of experience and interactions with other artists past and present; and the interaction of the viewer with the artwork as the artist leads the eye to a focal point through values, contrasts, details, colors and more.
The Opening Reception for the show is Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 5-8pm and is open to the public. I hope to see lots of art lovers there!
