I've just been notified that all three of my entries have been juried into an upcoming art show. This is an open show, which means any art media could be submitted. The venue, located in downtown Etowah, Tennessee, is a relatively small gallery space, so I decided to enter small pieces. I also chose my three entries, shown below, specifically with subjects that reflect the East Tennessee region, my home turf. I am constantly inspired by my own surroundings!
My three paintings include
- "Fleeting Moment," watercolor on paper, a touching scene which could be from any of our nearby Mennonite communities
- "See Rock City Barn, Sweetwater TN," a scratchboard of local barn, one of the few remaining which were painted decades ago to promote "Rock City," an attraction in Chattanooga
- "Locked In Time," a scratchboard colored with inks, capturing the details of a rusty padlock on an old barn - a very common sight in our area's rural communities
The exhibit opens on September 3rd and runs through September 28th. Office and gallery hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, from 11am to 6pm. Appointments also available; contact the gallery at (423) 263-7608. www.etowaharts.org
