Going National – Hoorah!

|

At the encouragement of fellow watercolor artists, I decided to broaden my horizons and entered my artwork into a national exhibition – and I got accepted! My watercolor “Sorghum Maker” has been selected by juror Linda Baker as one of 77 from among 302 entries for the 41st National Exhibition of the Georgia Watercolor Society (GWS). Entry was open to all watercolor artists across the United States using watermedia to create original artwork. The exhibition will take place in Atlanta, … Read More

The designation was made by the renowned Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in conjunction with the 69th annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. “Volunteers Is In!”

|

I recently tried something new – entering a painting in an Online Art Exhibit. It’s an interesting concept… entries are sent in as digital images (according to what is defined in the rules as acceptable) and the show is judged in the same way as a conventional ‘hang-in-a-gallery’ type of art exhibition. With an online show, the nice part for the selected artists is that you don’t need to ship your painting, the digital image just gets posted to a … Read More

The “Big Time”

|

Yes, it’s the Big Time for me. My award-winning painting, “In The Spotlight,” is currently on exhibit in Clarksville, Tennessee, which is northwest of Nashville on the Kentucky border. But wait, there’s more…. The hosting venue, the Customs House Museum, chose my painting to feature on the show banner which is hanging on the exterior of the historic building! I am surprised and honored. My friend Mike, the subject in my painting and a native of Nashville, visited the exhibit … Read More

Juror Pat Dews, an internationally regarded watercolor artist, had two of my paintings to choose from, but was limited to chosing one or none from each entrant artist. In my facebook page survey, the votes … Read More

Day at the Museum

I can finally say that my artwork has hung in a museum! Last week I got to visit the Tennessee Watercolor Society Traveling Show, at its last stop in The Knoxville (TN) Museum of Art. The exhibit of 30 juried paintings was quite nice, and I am proud to be included. The show continues there until January 6, 2013. Once I get my painting Jerry Van, Music Man back, I will have it on display at a special reception at … Read More
