"My blooming bearded irises inspired this painting and "Rainbow Iris," both in watercolor but done on two different surfaces...with very different styles. Three primary colors (red, yellow and blue) were used, ignoring the realistic colors of the flower and relying upon values to create the image. I've often used this abstract of color for realistic subjects, and I enjoy the process."
