"I could hardly resist creating a scratchboard when I saw the photo of a squirrel eating daisy petals. The textures on his fur were amazing, so fun to capture with scratching. I simplified the busy background of the photo to keep the vegetation simple and preserve the drama of a solid black background.
To make this read more as 'artwork' than 'photo' I created the appearance of a deckle-edge art paper, taped at the top onto a wood board. A shadow on the right and lower edge helps add dimension and reality to this effect."
