"My talented photographer friend Tammy Kokjohn timed her photo perfectly, and I knew I could translate the moment into a dynamic scratchboard painting. I cropped the original image tightly around mother and duckling to emphasize the magical connection. The baby is my focal point, with the lightest and brightest coloring helping to make the viewer's eye travel to him."
