"The spirit of Christmas is upon me, inspiring this wintry scene. I’ve often painted birds, and cardinals are year-round visitors to our feeders. Paper white birch trees grew abundantly nearby when we lived in New England, preferring cool climates. They are not among the rich variety of deciduous trees in our forest where I now live in Tennessee. They are so unusual, distinctive and fun to paint that I chose to feature them. We also don’t get much snow here, so think of this as a northern scene."

This Whiskey Painting was created with watercolors diluted with Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Sour Mash Tennessee Whiskey.
